Graduate Development Programme at Ofgem

About the company

Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) works on behalf of energy consumers to protect the interest of existing and future consumers. What we do matters: making a difference to people’s lives now, and for generations to come.

The energy system is undergoing a period of unprecedented change. Technological innovation, new business models and decarbonisation efforts mean that the energy system of the future will be very different from the one we have today. Working alongside government and industry, Ofgem has an integral role in facilitating the transition to a smart, flexible energy system. This is an exciting and challenging time for us. We must ensure that the regulatory framework is agile and adapts to the new challenges we expect to face in the coming years, yet still preserves our core functions of protecting consumers, ensuring effective competition and promoting security of supply.

About the role

From day one as an Ofgem graduate, you will take an active role in designing the future energy system. The 18-month programme will see you undertaking at least three rotations across the organisation. We are flexible to your interests and career aspirations, allowing you to develop specialist skills in your preferred discipline (such as economics, data, policy, stakeholder management), but at the same time the breadth of experience and skills you will develop will prepare you for a career in an increasingly integrated energy system.
