  • Gain routes into industries where they are currently under-represented and build their skills and experience
  • Be at the forefront of student knowledge exchange and partnership working

Partners span a variety of sectors and are broadly involved in placemaking. They include Hepworth Wakefield, De Trafford Manchester, the National Railway Museum, Sheffield Star and Forced Entertainment.

About the role

The world of work is changing; the skills employers are looking for today are changing too. Employers need their people to be innovative, adaptable and resilient. They need people who can collaborate and solve complex problems together – even if teams are working remotely.

We are seeking two Arts and Humanities or Social Sciences undergraduates to help shape a personal and professional development programme for future placement and internship students at The University of Sheffield. This Human Leadership programme will support and encourage students to feel confident and psychologically safe to bring their full selves into their work experience and demonstrate the mindset and behaviours employers need.

This 105 hour internship is part of Transforming and Activating Places (TAP), a new two-year student knowledge exchange project. The students will build on work already undertaken for arts and humanities knowledge exchange project Distant Creation (see below) and contribute to the creation of materials relating to: psychological safety, tackling imposter syndrome, building trust and collaborating and engaging people online, to be used by future TAP placement students.

This is an excellent opportunity to play an important role in a university partnership with a dynamic local company and influence the design of future arts and humanities led student work placement and internship schemes. The placement is open to widening participation students only (see below for further details).
