Working in the UK: visas

The International Student Support and Compliance (ISSAC) team based in the Student Union building publishes advice on student and work visas. In addition the team offers online advice and in person appointments and drop-ins.

Throughout the year the team delivers lectures that you can sign up for via Career Connect.

In addition to their advice line for students, UKCISA provides up-to-date information about Brexit, immigration, fees, student support, working and living in the UK for current and prospective international students.

If you have a query about studying in the UK, there is useful information on their website here.

Most international students wanting to work in the UK will do this on the student visa, Graduate Route visa or skilled worker visa or a combination of all of them! Lesser known visas under the temporary worker visas can offer other alternatives, particularly if you plan to return to the UK at a later time.

Some employers will be looking to you to be the expert on your own ‘right to work status’.

In order to support you in communicating your Visa status to employers you can take a look at the working in the UK after studies page.
