About the role
Over the course of your 12-month placement, we’ll give you a taste of what it’s like to work with us, while you gain valuable experience to help guide your career choices.
Directly reporting to the Management Accountant of one of Dawsongroup’s most successful business, our temperature-controlled asset business, you will be given key insight into the live operation of the accounting discipline, where you’ll be given the opportunity to ‘get involved’ in the day-to-day and learn a mix of practical knowledge and technical skills.
Accountant key functions:
- Assisting in the analysis and reporting of capital investment projects, including liaison with operational project managers
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and audit queries
- Learning to use the IBM AS400 accounting system
- Journal preparation and posting
- Balance sheet account reconciliations
- Supporting purchase leger activities
Requirements
- Studying towards an accounting or finance degree
- Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting, and variance analysis
- Eagerness to develop in the accounting realm
- Self-starter when it comes to identifying efficiencies and ‘getting involved’
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Capability to influence peers and senior managers
