About the role

This 8-week Summer Internship Programme is designed for university undergraduates. It provides the opportunity to transfer skills learnt from university, whilst gaining practical experience of the world of work. You will contribute to projects and initiatives that will have a real impact on the business.

If you successfully gain a place on the Summer 2022 intake you will work within a particular business area, with local support and guidance to help you make the most of your time with us. Students have previously worked in areas such as Investment Management, Marketing, Technology Services, HR, Business Assurance and Corporate Finance.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Administrative tasks to support the team or division you are working in.
  • Attending meetings to develop your networking and communication skills.
  • Dealing with various internal or external stakeholders.
  • Completing online learning for your development and understanding of office etiquette. 

Requirements

Essential Criteria 

  • Studying at a UK university on track for a 2.2 undergraduate degree in any discipline. 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing personal development. 
  • Able to build and maintain internal and external relationships and take a collaborative approach to projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, judgement and attention to detail. 
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and willing to embrace new opportunities with a positive attitude.  
  • Dedicated to working and engaging with others on projects. 
  • Demonstrates a desire to build relationships and develop good communication skills. 
  • A desire to learn more about St James’s Place as a business and understand the future opportunities that are available.
  • Provides evidence of effective IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Desirable 

  • Achieved at least BBB in your A level results.
  • An undergraduate student in their penultimate, second to last, year of study.  
  • Experience of good team working and working across a team to support the development of, and contribute to the delivery of, the objectives and priorities of an organisation. 
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and respond positively to change.
