COVID-19 Vaccine – How the UK responded to develop, manufacture & supply vaccines at record levels

December 1, 2022 @ 4:00 pm 5:00 pm

How did the UK manage to develop COVID–19 Vaccine manufacturing & supply chains at record levels?

  • How do you create capacity & capability to manufacture life saving vaccines when the world is in lock-down?
  • How do you mitigate risks to the most important Supply Chains?
  • How do you manage one of the most critical UK programmes?

Kevin Hall (Economics and Business Studies Graduate, 1998) will be answering these questions and more in our guest lecture, Supply Chain and Project Management in the Context of Vaccines.

At the outbreak of the Covid pandemic in 2020, Kevin was appointed Project Manager for the BIA COVID-19 Vaccine Manufacturing Taskforce, set up by Sir Patrick Vallance under the leadership of Ian McCubbin (CBE), to successfully create UK capacity & capability to manufacture the Oxford (later Astra Zeneca) COVID-19 Vaccine. With the creation of the Government Vaccine Taskforce under Leadership of Dame Kate Bingham, Kevin became a founding member as the Manufacturing & Supply Project Manager, continuing oversite of the manufacturing scale up projects & responsible for optimising & mitigating risk in supplying & deploying international vaccines (primarily Pfizer) into the UK.

Kevin was awarded Times Management Consultancy Association (MCA) Consultant the Year 2021 for playing a key role in the Manufacture & Supply of Covid-19 vaccines, and has been delivering supply chain management and business transformation projects at IBM for over 18 years.
